Privacy Policy

🔒  The short version: your goals and tasks never leave your device. We don't create accounts, we don't store your personal information, and we never sell your data — ever.

1. Who We Are

Waypoint AI ("we", "our", or "us") is the developer of the Waypoint AI mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum amount of information necessary to provide the App's features. Below is a breakdown of what is collected and where it is stored.

2.1 Data stored only on your device (never sent to us)

This data is stored in your device's local storage and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. It stays on your device until you delete the App or manually clear the data.

2.2 Anonymous user identifier (Firebase)

When you open the App for the first time, Firebase automatically creates an anonymous account for you. This generates a random, unique identifier (UID) that is not linked to your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information. This UID is used solely to enforce a fair-use rate limit on AI task generation (10 requests per day per user). The usage count associated with your anonymous UID is stored in Firebase Firestore.

2.3 Goal text sent to AI (Gemini)

When you choose to generate tasks for a goal using AI, the goal's title and description you provide are sent to Google's Gemini API via a secure Firebase Cloud Function. This is necessary to generate your personalized task list. We do not retain this content on our own servers. Google processes it according to their own policies, linked below. 2.4 Crash and error reports (Bugsnag)

We use Bugsnag to detect and fix crashes and errors in the App. When a crash occurs, Bugsnag automatically collects:

No personal information, goal content, or task data is included in crash reports. Bugsnag's privacy practices are described in their Privacy Policy.

2.5 Push notification token (optional)

If you enable daily reminders, the App registers a push notification token with Expo's notification service. This token is used only to deliver your scheduled reminder and is stored on your device. We do not store notification tokens on our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering and improving the App.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party. We share data only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate the App:

5. Data Retention

On-device data is retained until you delete the App, use the "Reset Application Data" option in Settings, or uninstall the App.

Firebase Firestore usage data (your anonymous UID and daily generation count) is retained for operational purposes. You can request deletion by contacting us at waypoint.app.info@gmail.com.

Crash reports are retained by Bugsnag according to their data retention policies.

6. Your Rights and Choices

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, rectify, and erase your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Children's Privacy

Waypoint AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we process. All communication between the App and Firebase is encrypted in transit using TLS. Your on-device data is protected by your device's built-in security features. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The App integrates with third-party services as described above. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
